Since destroying yet another mouse, and finally accepting that digital outputs are fairly dull for generative sound, I’ve decided to look more into software-based solution for the sound applet. There are some fairly nice things that can be done with video input, and as I’m using PureData for this, I’ll be experimenting with live video.
I’ve had a play with Gem’s OpenGL 3D objects which seem fairly intuitive, and some of the graphics effects are impressive.
A number of little experiments with Gem, and using this handy release of PD with everything pre-compiled, and the project is getting somewhere. It’s a simple sound-toy that takes inputs to move an instrument in 3D space.
How this will translate into some cool sound applet remains to be seen…
